We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in South Otago. As a Whānau Worker, you will work alongside whānau to build on their strengths, enhance wellbeing, and support positive outcomes for pēpi and tamariki.

About the role

  • 35 hours per week based in Balclutha
  • Work in our Family Start programme and Home-Based Family Support to support whānau who struggle with challenges that put health, education, and social outcomes for their pēpi at risk
  • Salary range $68,038- $102,000 pa. (pro-rated to hours worked) commensurate with skills and experience

About you (the applicant)

  • Essential: A qualification in Social Work that meets SWRB Registration, or Level 7 qualifications in Early Childhood Education or Health Field
  • Knowledge of parenting and child development
  • An understanding of Care and Protection principles and the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989
  • Good knowledge of community resources and an ability to develop networks, particularly in the Māori and Pasifika communities
  • Experience working with whānau who need support with complex and often stressful situations
  • Sound computer and database skills
  • You must have a current full driver licence
